High-Fives for the Sweet Hook-Ups

Today, M-L invited me along with her to a Mariners game. She recently started her new job at Nintendo (Congratulations, M-L!), and her manager offered her his seats for the Mariners' Sunday game against the Texas Rangers. Now, for those of you who don't know, the president of Nintendo is a primary owner of the Mariners organization, so both M-L and I were fairly confident that the seats would be pretty good. But, whoa, we had no idea HOW good these seats were going to be.

M-L and I hadn't caught up for quite awhile, so we were yammering away while we were walking to our seats, found the section, and started walking down to the appropriate row. Where did we end up, you may wonder? IN THE FIRST ROW DIRECTLY BEHIND THE MARINERS' DUGOUT. M-L and I were sitting directly behind where the players walked out of the dugout to go to the warm-up circle before their at-bat and behind Mike Hargrove (the Mariners' manager) as he was standing up on the dugout fence. Talk about primo seats. What a very cool experience! Although M-L and I continued to yammer throughout most of the game and pay attention to what was going on with half an eye and ear, it was still very cool to be that close to the players and to get that perspective of the field.

So, thanks to M-L for the invitation and for the sweet hook-ups on the tickets! Although the Mariners didn't win, it was still a great way to spend a sunny Seattle Sunday afternoon. I would have added in a photo of our location to give you all a better idea of what I'm talking about, but, well, I'm still sans camera phone (and didn't think to bring a regular camera to a "run-of-the-mill" Mariners game). Maybe next time. In the meantime, if you ever watch highlights of any Mariners' games at Safeco Field in Seattle, take a look at the first row behind the Mariners dugout. That was me. Section 124, Row 5, Seat 12.

I wonder if M-L and I'll be on TV tonight?
